Love the look. Love the width. But that footbed thing... Nov 07, 2009 Just got these sandals. And what can I say? They seem to be wide enough for my wide feet. And I like the look of them--it's something about the 'retro-ness' of them that I find so very appealing.
The problem though for me is that I have VERY flat feet. And the contour of the footbed doesn't seem to respect that. It's like walking over some kind of hill or something.
I don't know why Birkenstock can't make a shoe that can do away with the footbed thing. Because I'm telling you, it only works if you happen to have the 'right' kind of arches in your feet. Otherwise, you'll be in for a LUMPY experience!!! And who needs that!!!
These shoes will be staying in the closet. Or at least there's always the Goodwill!!!

world's best shoes the birkie sandal May 24, 2009 As an ex-Deadhead who has worn birkenstocks for nearly 30 years, I am lucky enough to be in a profession that gets to wear the sandals half of the year. (The warm months in Santa Fe.) These sandals are the best shoe in the world when you consider all the categories bar none. I also purchased them for an excellent price at an Amazon.com supplier.

very comfortable Jun 04, 2008 these sandles are for my daughter. she loves them. last year she had the regular ones. she loves the soft bed on her new ones. we definitely recommend them.

just wonderfull! Jun 03, 2008 these sandals are wonderfully compfterble. they look great and to top it all this is a quality shoe. the soft footbed feels great and is defenetlly worth the extra cost.you should know that they run quite large and wide.
one of my best purcheses! I reccomend highly.
